Up and coming London dreampop duo Deary started the year out right, introducing themselves with a lovely Cocteaus-esque single in “Fairground” and they’re looking to close out 2023 on an equally high note, opening up for one of Slowdive’s London shows and scheduling the release of their debut self-titled EP for November 17.
Accompanying the announcement is a third single from the six-track record, accompanied by a suitably smeared lyric video. Says guitarist Ben – no surnames for the duo, thank you – of the song:
This is my favourite track on the EP, it transformed into a different entity compared to early versions. I was working on a Suicide (the band) project at the time, and was really interested in their rhythms and drum machines. The demo had a pumping CR-78 all the way through, which you can still here between the first chorus and second verse. When Dottie added her vocals to it, it cried out for a groove and that turned the track into a single
