It has been a long time since Fear Of Men’s last album – Fall Forever came out almost exactly nine years ago – though frontwoman Jessica Weiss hasn’t been idle; she completed a masters at Oxford last year and has an eye on a PhD, so crafting delicately dreamy and deliciously tense indie rock has had to take a back seat. But with a show in Cologne, Germany in April and another in their hometown of Brighton coming in November, at least the guitars are out of their cases.
Their last recorded dispatch came in 2020 with the one-off single and video, “Into Strangeness”. Less than three minutes of music in almost a decade isn’t much, quantitatively, but it contains enough fierceness and foreboding to be surprisingly satisfying.
