Carpenter’sBlue – “Stone/Flower”

This year’s Next Music From Tokyo kicks off tonight at The Horseshoe in Toronto, and repping the shoegazier end of the bill is Machida’s Carpenter’sBlue. They’ve been releasing a series of new singles throughout the Summer, presumably a runway to a second album at some point in the near future, but today I’m going way back into their catalog – well, four years, to December 2021’s Ston/er EP, which featured two songs, one of which – “Stone/Flower” – would make it onto their full length debut, 2023’s Garyontensei.

The video is quite a technicolour assault on the senses, though the band has dialed down their sartorial choices a bit, based on this live performance video from this past April from CLASSIX in their hometown of Machida, just west of Tokyo.
