Thailand’s Slowwves released one of the year’s best shoegaze debuts in Perfect Evasion, which came out back in June. To coincide with the occasion (well, within a few weeks of, anyways), the band recorded a video session at CD Cosmos in their hometown of Bangkok.
Over four songs from the album and astonishingly quiet between-song breaks, the band – with core trio augmented by a session bassist and additional guitarist – excellently showcase their ability to get grunge-gaze right, and that is not an easy thing to get me to say. These kids love the ’90s and I – as they say – am here for it. And I’m happy to know how to pronounce their name correctly – “slow ves” – which I guess seems obvious, but still.
