Happy New Year, not only from me, but also from Parannoul who rang in 2026 with a new single. “연말 다짐” – which translates to “Year-end Resolutions” – showed up online on New Year’s Day via an Instagram story with the caption, “Happy 2026 – I Hope To Achieve Something This Year”. To imply that he hasn’t is some kind of false modesty; even though his output as Parannoul last year amounted to just a single song, he put out three ambient records as Mydreamfever and two found-sound projects as Huremic so… yeah, that’s an achievement.

But obviously it’s Parannoul that pays the bills, so even though “연말 다짐” arrived without further context – though lyrics and even an old-school downloadable MP3 are available – so should we expect the follow-up to 2024’s Sky Hundred this year? And if so, is “연말 다짐” – decidedly less frenetic and sonically dense than past works – an indication of what it might sound like?
