Malmö, Sweden’s Echo Ladies continue to ramp up to the September 8 release of their second album Lilies, offering up a fourth and final advance single with accompanying video in “Coming Home”. Based on these previews, the trio look to not only be avoiding any kind of sophomore slump, but are improving on the weak spots of Pink Noise, with stronger songwriting, dynamics, and groove.
There doesn’t seem to be a lot of chatter about the new record, even in the cul de sacs of shoegaze and dreampop discussion, but I think that’s more due to their new label being more Sweden-centric. Either way, I hope I’m able to get a copy for less than the arm and a leg that I’m seeing it listed for right now…
But back to the new track, “Coming Home”. Says the band:
This song is heavily inspired by two of our favourite bands, A Place To Bury Strangers and The Jesus & Mary Chain. Our aim was to make the song feel like a big wave of noise, feedback and guitars that hits you in the face. Can’t remember how many layers of fuzzed and distorted guitars are on this track, but it’s maaany.
