The Cure are re-releasing their 1993 live album Paris today, recorded in October 1992 at Le Zenith at the very edge of the 19th arrondissement . It was their second live record released that year, following Show, but unlike that document there was no accompanying video release, which is a shame because the track list – which represented just a fraction of each of their set lists over the three-night stand – was superb.
But that doesn’t mean we are without ways to celebrate The Cure performing in the City Of Lights – their show at Le réservoir in October 2001 while touring behind Bloodflowers was broadcast by French TV programme Music planet 2nite and like any professionally-recorded concert of the day, it was heavily bootlegged as Le reservoir or Paris 2001, depending on which dark alley you shopped in. But what’s important is that it was also ripped and exists online for folks to let play in the background for an hour while they do other things.
