Ride, Live at KEXP – May 2024

Ride have had a busy year touring their new record Interplay since it dropped at the end of March, so far covering the UK, North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and with another run of UK and US dates coming this Fall – and that’s not covering another North American run at the very start of 2024 with The Charlatans celebrating Nowhere. And maybe it’s good they’ve crammed all this Ride into 2024, because it sounds like Andy Bell might have to block off some of his 2025 calendar for… other commitments. Or maybe he won’t? He certainly expected it to happen at some point, as he said in conversation with Virgin Radio earlier this year:

Yeah, they probably will. I think yeah, they probably will do it. I don’t think it looks likely right now, but life is long, isn’t it? As a Stone Roses fan, that reunion happened completely against the way things were looking. They were not getting on at all, and there was a lot of bad blood in the press and stuff with the Roses, and then suddenly you were hearing about gigs… I think we could see something like that for Oasis.

In any case, one of the items on the band’s itinerary this past Spring was a stop into Seattle’s KEXP for a six-song live set in the station’s studio. Maybe “Peace Sign” was dedicated to the Gallaghers? Or pound sign.
