I’ve been meaning to represent Jay Som on these pages since I started up, but just hadn’t gotten around to it – kind of like how I like all of her records, but just haven’t gotten around to adding any of their physical copies to my collection because, well, I dunno. So with news that Melina Duterte is releasing her first new record under her primary brand in six years, I figure it’s time.

That record, Awake, is out October 10 and while the preview track is an uptempo Jimmy Eat World-guesting bop, I’m going to go way back to when her dream pop was it’s dreamiest, circa 2017’s Everybody Works. And while she takes the principle of making fun music videos seriously, this one is extra fun.

And actually, it turns out I have a copy of Anak Ko so… nevermind!
