Just last month I was wondering if one-off collabs were all we could expect from Melody’s Echo Chamber by way of new music – and considering the road Melody Prochet has had to take to get back to doing anything, that would be just fine – but hooray, it turns out that last new single was actually a sneaky way of introducing her fourth album, the follow-up to 2022’s Emotional Eternal, on which said song will appear as the closing track.

Unclouded is coming December 5, and is being presented as a collaboration with Swedish producer Sven Wunder. Of her latest record, Prochet says:

The music I create unusually inhabits the liminal zone between realism and fables,” says Melody. “But the more experience I have of living, the deeper I love life and the less I need to escape. If my heart still belongs to the blue hour, it also feels like I’ve gathered up all the pieces of myself that were scattered everywhere and glued them together with gold like Japanese kintsugi.

Unfortunately, the global tour that will accompany the record doesn’t include the Canadian part of the globe, so I’m glad I took the trip to Brooklyn in 2023 to see her tour Emotional Eternal.

News of the new record comes with a video (is that really different from a visualiser?) where Prochet, along with the album’s promotional art, gets really friendly with her Fender Mustang. I have the same one!
