I was going to say “London’s Daughter” but considering that the three members are now scattered across the globe, the geographic qualifier seems misplaced. I believe the logistics, amongst other factors, were why the band didn’t tour or play live (almost) at all for their last record, 2023’s Stereo Mind Game, which means if you do the math, it has been well over seven years since they’ve played in front of an audience, aforementioned in-store aside.
But there is activity in the Daughter camp, albeit of the retrospective variety. Noting that it has been 10 years since their second album Not To Disappear was released, the band has released a new old song:
To celebrate, we have a little anniversary gift for you – ’Not Enough’ one of the many songs written during that time which didn’t make it to the album’s recording session. 10 years later, it finally felt like the right moment to record it! Thank you to Nicolas for working with us again and mixing the track. The artwork comes from a polaroid taken by Remi Aguilella during the recording of ‘Not To Disappear’.
@ohDaughter
It’s notable not just because it’s a new song, but that it’s not just a track dug up off an old hard drive… well it is, but not the version you’re hearing.
’Not Enough’ didn’t find its place on ‘Not To Disappear’ but we always loved it – we even played it live a few times before it went back to being a demo buried on a hard-drive. To mark the album’s 10th anniversary, we wanted to revisit some of the unfinished threads from that era.
In November 2025, we finally all found ourselves in London again and recorded ’Not Enough’ in the studio together. We live in different places now, and some of our recent work has happened remotely, so this felt like old times.
Daughter celebrate 10 years of ‘Not To Disappear’ with velvety unreleased song ‘Not Enough’ @ NME
The track comes with a lightly animated lyric video and also the hope that more new new music will be coming from the band sooner rather than later. We’ll put a pin in asking for a tour, though – one step at a time.
