I’m not sure how big the demographic is, but Curve fans with money burning a hole in their pocket are certainly being catered to in the next few weeks. Firstly, archival label Music On Vinyl, who have been targeting analog completists by releasing all of the band’s singles and EPs on wax over the past year, will complete (?) the series with a limited edition pressing of the band’s second album, 1993’s Cuckoo, out next Friday, March 1. This will be the companion release for 1992’s Doppelganger, which got the same treatment back in November 2023.
And for those who dig the digital and just want everything in one place, Cherry Red are releasing Unreadable Communication – Anxious Recordings 1991-1993 today. It’s a four CD set that, as the title states, collects all of the band’s output for Anxious Recordings – the same era that’s covered by the MOV releases, though presumably with more bonus material. It’s nice that the “gotta have it all” fans are being catered to; it’d also be nice if the “would like to stream the records once in a while without having to go to Bandcamp” crowd got some love too.
So here’s the video for “Missing Link”, which was the opening track and lead single from Cuckoo. It was released as a CD single under its own name in the US but in the UK, was named Blackerthreetracker because, well, it was three tracks long and black?
And the song’s appearance on Beavis & Butthead… “That chick needs a raincoat”.
And a live performance along with “Turkey Crossing” on The Beat in August 1993:
