Glazyhaze – “Forgive Me”

Glazyhaze – “Forgive Me”

Italy isn’t a country that comes to mind as a hotbed of shoegazing, but Venice’s Glazyhaze are looking to change that – or at least be the exception. Sure, everything from their band name through their song titles is pretty on-the-nose-millennial-shoegaze-fan, but that’s not a deal-breaker around here when it’s done well, and their 2023 debut Just Fade Away was done very well, with shimmering guitars and melodiously sleepy vocals in all the proper proportions.

Working with the velocity and enthusiasm that only young bands have, they released their debut in May 2023 and already have the follow-up, entitled Sonic, finished and due out on March 21. The first single “What A Feeling” arrived last Fall as a sub-two minute sugar blast, but if anyone was concerned that the band were trading subtlety for adrenaline on album number two should be allayed with the second taste, “Forgive Me”, which dropped last week. It finds a good balance between the pivot to loud implied by “Feeling” and the sleepy atmosphere of the debut.
