While it’s not the “new album and world tour”-level announcement we’ve been waiting for, the news yesterday that The Radio Dept. would be making their return to the stage with an appearance at Pitchfork London this November was unexpected and welcome. They haven’t performed live since the Summer of 2018 to close out support of Running Out Of Love and since then, there’s been a handful of singles but radio (dept) silence since 2020.
Obviously one big question they take the stage will be if there is any new material in the set, but obviously for sure there will be old material, like this oldest of old Lesser Matters single from 2003 for “Where Damage Isn’t Already Done” and oh man, look how young and happy and they were. How young and happy we all were.
And the band are present in the comments on this throwback Instagram post, dropping hints at new recordings and reissues, so let’s buckle in for what’s sure to be a very slow but hopefully steady ride.
