Parannoul – “Remaining”

Parannoul – “Remaining”

Just as he opened the new year with a (so far) one-off song, Korean shoegaze maestro Parannoul has welcomed the Summer with another new song. This follows three new releases through the Spring as Mydreamfever, so it’s likely that he – as much as his audience – needed to go back to the loud guitars, at least for a little bit. That said, it’s a little less maximalist than some of his previous work – not as loud, not as long – and while at over five minutes it’s hardly a tidy pop nugget, it does go down pretty easy. Which is basically what I thought of “연말 다짐” – perhaps this is an actual stylistic shift for him?

As always, it’s impossible to guess what the artist only known as Parannoul (or Mydreamfever or Huremic) might do next – for example even though he swore off live performance a couple years ago, he has a number of Asian live dates set through the Summer – but that’s really part of the excitement of being a fan, right?
