Tokyo’s musbime are relative newcomers, having been active only since 2024, but have already made an impression with their debut EP 煌めきを凌いで (Brave The Blinding), which came out in late April. Like most of their peers, shoegaze is only one of the genres they’ve absorbed into their sound – there’s math in the guitar lines, emo in the vocals, J-pop in the melodies – and they’re all on display in their first single and video, 『流星群のあと』- or “After The Meteor Shower”.
They introduced the song six months earlier via a demo version that, beyond the rougher production, sounds remarkably close to the finished product:
And of course it’s a staple of their live set, captured here on stage last month in Shinjuku, Toyko.
