Manic Sheep – “Tawdry Clip”

Manic Sheep – “Tawdry Clip”

Taipei’s Manic Sheep can reasonably lay claim to the title of best shoegaze/noisepop band in Taiwan, and even though they’ve not released a new full-length since 2016’s Brooklyn – which yielded the delicious “No More Anger” – but have remained in the “active” column with some extended plays over the last few years.

Deep Dusk‘s two tracks arrived in May 2019 and after dusk comes morning – or in this case, Morning Fragment. It comprises four more songs for which the Google-Translated statement from the band about the release is as follows:

Dreaming at night, waking up always trying to work together dreams and memories, unaddressed sorrows that don’t belong to anyone, those are just mirrors, from the imagination projected from the heart.

And what that means is anyone’s guess.

The four songs cover a lot of stylistic ground, but I’m going to go ahead and post the closing track as it’s the banger-iest of the bunch and actually features some glide guitar that doesn’t sound like a total MBV ripoff.
