Slowdive plays a Field Recording at Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Happy Slowdive release day! everything is alive, the band’s fifth full-length, is out today and while I was going to post a full show recording – there’s still a few out there I haven’t shared – I came across this one-song session the band did for NPR that I seem to have missed completely six years ago.

Done for their Field Recordings series, which no longer seems to be a thing, it put the band – less Christian – in a Brooklyn shuffleboard parlour to perform “Sugar For The Pill”, the standout track from their sublime self-title. I’m guessing it was recorded around the time of the band’s first North American leg for Slowdive.

Also, as if there was any question, everything is alive is sublime. That’s the review.
