Even though they said last Summer that their next two releases would be EPs, some – myself included – hoped that 2026 would bring the debut full-length from She’s Green. And while that could certainly still happen, they’ve made good on their initial promise of companion extended plays – following last year’s Chrysalis, the band will release Swallowtail (as in the butterfly, which come from chrysalises – get it?) on July 10 and this duality explains why physical editions of Chrysalis were quietly limited to CDs las year – they’re doing a double-EP vinyl edition once Swallowtail is out.
We’ve already gotten a few previews in “Mettle”, released back in February and “Paper Thin” in April, followed by “Empty House” today. Whereas “Mettle” showcased the band amped up, the two follow up previews focus on their gentler side from quite different directions.
“Paper Thin” swirls slowly in a wash of reverb, focusing on themes of:
the power of lust in a dying relationship: how it can be confused for love when in reality, the relationship has already faded

In addition to the official video, they shared a live video from a show in LA a few weeks ago.
“Empty House”, meanwhile,
They previewed the song via a live clip on IG, saying:
the first time we played it was at a candle lit show on the mississippi with lovely friends and folk from minneapolis. since then, we’ve wanted it to sound as intimate as that night did for us. here’s a version of it by our favorite stream.

And with the official single drop, it’s clear the unplugged version wasn’t a dramatic reinvention – the studio version is also an acoustic slow burn putting the spotlight on Zofia Smith’s vocals and the song’s melodicism, though some atmospherics start creeping in around the edges as it goes on. Of its themes, the band says:
’empty house’ is a metaphor for the beauty of life’s impermanence. It pictures your body as an empty house, a place in constant wear and repair, where things come and go – people, memories, and pieces of ourselves.
