The two stages of Kinoko Teikoku’s career are pretty clearly delineated into their indie era and their major label era, each covering three of their six total albums (though trainspotters would probably draw that line one album earlier, into shoegaze/non-shoegaze). Their two 2018 digital “introduction to” compilations were split as such and their vinyl reissue series (or issue series, as they were never pressed to vinyl the first time around) has as well.

Their later EMI albums 猫とアレルギー, 愛のゆくえ, and タイム・ラプス each got their first vinyl releases last April, and their four releases for UK.Project – 渦になる, Eureka, フェイクワールドワンダーランド, and the Long Goodbye EP – are all getting the same treatment today. Personally, I ponied up for the import CDs when I discovered the band six years ago or so, so I will pass on these double-LP issues but it’s nice to know they’re out there for the more analog hardcore demographic. But CDs are making a comeback, didn’t you hear?

『夜が明けたら』- “When The Night Breaks” – is both the title of the one indie-era official video I haven’t shared before, from their 2012 debut 渦になる, and the name of their second demo CD which was released almost exactly 15 years ago (you may remember the first from last Summer). I was originally going to save the demo for another post but given that they have the same title, that makes no sense at all so here you go.

In addition to the super-abstract official clip of the song, there’s a number of good-to-pro quality live performances over the years, those years specifically being 2011 to 2013.
