I’ve been waiting for MONO to announce some North American dates in support of their new record Oath, so I should be happy that they did yesterday, but three US dates in mid-December isn’t quite what I had in mind. Sure, they’ll be orchestral shows to fully showcase the widescreen splendor of the new record, but the odds of my being able or willing to attend either the Chicago or Brooklyn shows are… low. Maybe they’ll do some more less-augmented shows in the new year. Or maybe I just won’t see them.
But I can watch this hypnotic new live, one-take video from the band for the Murakami-referencing song from the new record, “Hear The Wind Sing”. Says the band about the performance:
The filming for this took place at Electrical Audio during the rehearsal for the new album recording and it was shot spontaneously as one continuous uninterrupted take, beautifully capturing the flow of the music.

It’s a companion piece to the clip for their previously-released clip for the title track of the new record, also recorded at the late Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio.
