American shoegazer OGs Alison’s Halo have been back in action since 2009, but have limited their activities to touring and meticulously mining their archives, though moving at a pace that would make Kevin Shields tap his toes impatiently. Consider their Kickstarter to remix, master, and enhance five Eyedazzler-era tracks for release – it was started back in October 2018 and reached its backing goal within the month, but took until 2024 to finish recording and mixing and tweaking.

I might have been impatient about this process but I actually had no idea it was happening, and thought that the first preview track – “Happy”, released last December – was a one-off, and not part of this larger project. But it was/is, and is finally due out on Friday, just in time for Hallowe’en. Interestingly, despite being funded by Kickstarter, the new tracks are showing as licensed to Nettwerk Records so perhaps after all the donors have received their rewards, a wider release for the record is coming?

In any case, expect some more info from the band once the record is out in the wild – perhaps with more touring? – and enjoy this second preview track from the project, released back in May. Hey, I said I wasn’t on top of these things.
