Being one of the OG Japanese shoegaze bands AND hailing from Osaka, I was obviously keen to post some Honeydip but what do you know – I already shared their one and only video last year to celebrate their return to active duty and the remaster and reissue of their last two albums (although apparently there was some drama around those releases about whether or not the releases were authorized or legal).

In any case, their other two albums – 1998’s Planet Of The Honey and 1999’s Portable Audio Science – were remastered and rereleased at the end of last year by the same parties and are still available for sale and streaming, so whatever the contention was, there was not legal action to go with it.

But also happening at that time was reunion gigs to coincide with the release, and one of them was at Japanese shoegaze’s spiritual home of Koenji High. The show was recorded in full – 90 minutes! – with a single camera, but looks and sounds great, if lacking a bit in visual dynamics.
