It’s not intentional that this site is becoming something of a She’s Green fansite, but the pace at which they’re creating and releasing great material is just impossible to ignore, and while I like to think I’m being pretty curatorial in what I post… the machine needs to be fed. But still, even with their Swallowtail EP finally coming out last week – and the Swallowtail/Chrysalis double-vinyl EP arriving in stores – I was going to let the occasion pass since I’d already shared up their four (4!) preview singles/videos and that’s a lot, right?
But of course, the band went full-on “oh you think so?” this week and so, here we are. First, there’s been a deluge of excellent press including this from NME that directly addresses the question I’ve had of “why so many EPs, where’s the album?”. And it’s hard to argue with the rationale, especially considering the band are hardly being stingy about releasing new music. We’re just arguing format semantics.
We’ve grown so much as a band. Looking back now, I’m so glad we waited. You only get one chance at your first album, and we’re so much more prepared now.

Minneapolis shoegazers She’s Green are playing the long game @ NME
Shoegaze magazine Tape Wounds featured the band as cover stars of their latest issue, a generous portion of which has been posted online. In it they discuss how they approached Swallowtail differently from their previous releases:
It’s the most work we’ve put into a project yet. It’s also the first time we recorded in a professional studio with a producer. So, we wanted to give it more of an emphasis. We wanted that change to be evident when listening to Chrysalis and Swallowtail, but also for them to work in tandem.

The Line Of Best Fit had a feature interview with the band ahead of their UK debut dates this Summer:

And maybe it’s the “Green” that got their attention, but Irish radio station RTE had some introductory questions for the band:

I’m not big on reel/video interviews but this clip from Alternative Press with the band counting off albums that influenced them in recording Swallowtail is a good one:
Also very noteworthy is that after a number of high-profile support slots, they are embarking on their first headline tour of North America this Fall. While normally I’d be first in line, I will sadly have to miss this one because, well, my own band are making our live debut that night. Yeah, buried the lede on that a little. More on that later. In any case, I will content myself in having seen their previous three local appearances, and will definitely catch their fifth.
And oh yeah, they also released a fifth video from Swallowtail to go with the record release last week.
