Proving the dog days of Summer are a global phenomenon, Kurayamisaka released a new two-song single in『Summer Film』last week, followed by a video for the A-side today. In it, we see the band performing on the beach while a girl ditches work as an automotive mechanic to go enjoy the Japanese countryside with a girlfriend. That old trope.
Of the vibe the band were attempting to capture, guitarist Shotaro Shimizu tells Yahoo! Japan:
I think I succeeded in capturing the sweltering summer air of my boyhood in about six minutes.
I love summer. I think I must love summer vacation. I was so happy during my first summer vacation when I was in first grade. At the time, I thought summer vacation ended in July, but when my parents told me, ‘August is also summer vacation,’ I was the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I think that’s where my formative experience comes in.

In addition to the digital release, the single will get a physical 7″ release on November 3, perfectly timed to make you ask why you were complaining about the weather three months ago.
So while the band continue to tour Asia pretty relentlessly, they’ve managed to put out three new singles in the last three months. Mayhap they’ll have album number two out sooner than we expect?
