With the whole “BrooklynVegan presents” part of their upcoming tour seemingly unaffected by the whole “BrooklynVegan gutted” news cycle last week, Swervedriver are set to perform “Raise at 35″ starting in a week and a half and are offering a new (old) release to go with it in the form of raise:demos, a collection of the demos that would ultimately become Raise (and Raise-adjacent releases).

The Bandcamp page for the release, which includes pre-orders for the record in various formats when it is officially released on October 23, contains an expansive written snapshot of the band at the time these songs were recorded, from 1990 to 1991 (aka “the affordable years”). I encourage you to read it because god knows there’s too much to try and excerpt here.

The preview track for the release is the demo for “Flawed”, which may register as an all-new song if you’re not a Swervedriver deep-diver, but it – or at least the official version – was indeed officially released. It originally appeared on the Sandblasted EP, which preceded Raise by a couple months, and was also part of the Honey Heavens Above b-sides and rarities compilation released by the band digitally back in 2020 (I talked about it and its companion volume here).
