The American Analog Set – live at Club DeVille, Austin – March 2009

Today, The American Analog Set are putting out For Forever, their first album since 2005’s Set Free. The band essentially ended at the end of that year, after touring obligations were done, but they did reconvene a few times after that for one-off performances.

The second-last of those was back in March 2009 in Austin, Texas during SXSW. The event was the Insound party at Club DeVille and just getting the hometown heroes back together on stage wasn’t enough, they had to sweeten it by having them perform their 1999 album The Golden Band in its entirety for its 10th anniversary.

Paste was on hand to capture the whole thing on video, and I was on hand in the front row to take pictures and just bask in the slow, hazy beauty of a singular event. You can see me doing just that at various points in the video. Very glad this was before the days of super high resolution cameras…
