Seattle’s KEXP is making hay from the Summer touring schedule, welcoming New York’s DIIV into their studios for a four-song session and interview during their tour in support of Frog In Boiling Water (I caught the Toronto show at the start of August). Compared to their past works, Frog is far less immediate, eschewing easy hooks for atmosphere and intricacy, and while I wouldn’t have minded just one jam to balance things out, the record definitely sounds meatier live.
As one of the higher profile shoegaze releases of the year, it’s drawn a number of interview features out of the band. Here’s some:
An interview with DIIV @ First Revival
DIIV Frontman Cole Smith on Streaming Monopolies and the Shoegaze Renaissance @ Interview
Charting the Cold-Blooded Evolution of DIIV @ Range
DIIVision: DIIV Members Choose Albums They Love That Their Bandmates Hate @ Consequence
DIIV tackle their existential crisis: “This album just feels so hard fought” @ NME
Indie Rock Survivors DIIV Bring Shoegaze for the Revolution @ Esquire
