Following a fairly steady stream of EPs and singles over the past five years, Tokyo indie heroes Hammer Head Shark have announced details of their first proper full-length album. Out June 27, 27°C, comprises a dozen songs, half of which have been previously released though the “(27°C)” in the tracklisting implies they’re re-recorded versions of such, or one hopes.
One of the new songs – which I guess makes it seven previously released – is「園」, which translates to “Garden”, and while it starts out a rather gentler song than the band have necessarily made their name with, it gets where it needs to. Don’t worry. They’ve released a video for the song, and a live solo acoustic performance of it by frontwoman Hiyu Nagai from back in February has now surfaced.
