Swervedriver – “Cars Converge On Paris”, live on KEXP – April 2012

Swervedriver b-sides have long been things of beauty and held in high regard, and one particular fan-favourite is “Cars Converge On Paris”, originally released in 1993 as a b-side to Mezcal Head single, “Last Train To Satansville”.

Never being ones to shy away from the deep cut, the band included the song in the encores of their 2012 US tour and also in their mini-set for Seattle’s KEXP when they dropped by in April 2012. Their live arrangement isn’t a total reinvention of the original, but with Jimmy trading his usual Les Paul in for a Strat, it has a decidedly dreamier and more shimmery vibe. I like it a lot.

And because it doesn’t cost anything, here’s the original version, currently available as part of the Youth At The Summit digital comp, detailed hereabouts last year.
