Blouse – “Into Black”

Blouse – “Into Black”

Too busy to do up some “proper” content right now, so I’ll settle for a, “hey remember these guys?” from a blog-era band that’s vanished into the ether. Blouse came out of Portland, Oregon with an icy, skeletal sound that I certainly dug for their 2011 self-titled debut, at least. This song, in particular – which was released as a single but without a video – still does it for me, 12 years later.

But a couple of good studio session videos do provide visuals for the song. This live session was recorded in Dijon, France, and they also stopped in at the KEXP studios in Seattle. Both date to around 2011-2012.

The band released a second album, Imperium, in 2013, that failed to grab me the same way and were not heard from again. Frontwoman Charlie Hilton had a solo record, Palana, in 2016. I’ve not heard it.
