ヨツドメノディ-『眩暈』

ヨツドメノディ-『眩暈』

Looking back, I’m surprised it took me so long to get around to sharing Kyoto’s ヨツドメノディ (aka Yotsudomenoddy) because going back and listening to their slim catalog now, particularly their debut 2025 EP 追憶, their brand of emotive, anthemic shoegaze hits so good. The timing of this realization is good, however, because their second EP Morph Of Spore was just released today and it’s just as good as its predecessor – probably better.

As expected, the bulk of the EP was already released as standalone singles leading up to now but it’s still a bracing listen over its five tracks, heard as a whole. It’s hard to pick a focus track – “I’m Coming Back To You”, with its English lyrics and stately pace, reminds of Yuragi before exploding into pure pop bliss of the sort Yuragi used to make but are kind of over with now – but I’ll go with the most recent preview track『眩暈』which translates to “Vertigo” and is pure adrenaline. Plus it comes with a video, which is good because the clip for『Telomere』, promised back in March, never materialized.
