Sweeping Promises – “Eraser”

Sweeping Promises – “Eraser”

It’s been a hot minute – or three years – since Sweeping Promises dropped their terrific debut Hunger For A Way Out, but they’ve been busy in that time, signing to SubPop internationally, relocating their home base from Boston to Lawrence, Kansas, and crafting their follow-up record which they’ve now announced to the world: Good Living Is Coming For You will be coming for you on June 30, and then the band will be coming for you – assuming you’re on their touring itinerary – this August. I, for one, am quite excited to see them make their Toronto debut at The Garrison on the 15th.

The first preview track from the record, “Eraser”, and the titular person is described by the band as:

A malevolent creep – an overly ambitious, shadowy force who bears an uncanny resemblance to you. She watches your every move, mirrors your motions, and ultimately uses your voice against you without you ever noticing what she’s done. She’s unchecked ambition, a paranoid girl Friday, an overriding impulse to reflect rather than project. She must be stopped at all costs.
